The Ayos HCS allows you to manage and setup your disks either standalone, RAID0, RAID1 or RAID5. The options allowed depends on the amount of "user" disks the system has available and if they are in use already.

During ordering you can add 2x SATA SSDs to your Ayos HCS. If you want to extend the amount of storage afterwards you can connect up to 4 extra USB external disks.
The system will detect your connected disks and allow you to format and assign a filesystem to use.


A few examples.

Two SATA SSD disks as standalone disks each
Navigate to Filer and then click Disks.
In the disks overview you can see all provisioned (in-use) disks. New disks show on top as shown in the screenshot.
To be able to configure disks differently their configuration needs to be removed, which would remove any data that might still be on the disk, so be sure to know which disks to delete.
If you have two new disks available to configure you have the option to create a standalone, RAID0 or RAID1. If you have more then two disks you have an extra option to create a RAID5 as well.
In the New Disk Detected list click Add near the disk you want to add.
Choose a filesystem you want to use for the disk. If these are the internal SATA SSD disks then select Fast File System (FFS) as the filsystem. If these are external USB disks then you can choose either File Allocation Table (FAT32) which has a single file size limitation of 4GB. If you want to use Extensible File Allocation Table (exFAT) you will have to format the external USB disks using another computer first, as the HCS doesn't support formatting disks to exFAT at this time.
Once you have chosen your filesystem select Agree if you agree with removing all the data from the disk.
Click Save.


Repeat these steps for the second disk.
You should now have your two disks with the amount of space available in your disks overview. You can now use these disks for your NAS storage.


Two SATA SSD disks as RAID0
Navigate to Filer and then click Disks.
In the disks overview you can see all provisioned (in-use) disks. New disks show on top as shown in the screenshot.
To be able to configure disks differently their configuration needs to be removed, which would remove any data that might still be on the disk, so be sure to know which disks to delete.
If you have two new disks available to configure you have the option to create a standalone, RAID0 or RAID1. If you have more then two disks you have an extra option to create a RAID5 as well.
In the New Disk Detected list click Add RAID0 Disk.
Select the two disks you want to add to this RAID and choose a filesystem you want to use for the RAID0 disk.
If these are the internal SATA SSD disks then select Fast File System (FFS) as the filesystem. If these are external USB disks you could also go for File Allocation Table (FAT32) which has a single file size limitation of 4GB. exFAT is not supported at this time for RAID disks.
Once you have chosen your filesystem select Agree if you agree with removing all the data from the disks.
Click Save.


You should now have your RAID0 disk with the amount of space available in your disks overview. You can now use this disk for your NAS storage.

In the New Disk Detected list click Add RAID1 Disk.
Select the two disks you want to add to this RAID and choose a filesystem you want to use for the RAID1 disk.
If these are the internal SATA SSD disks then select Fast File System (FFS) as the filesystem. If these are external USB disks you could also go for File Allocation Table (FAT32) which has a single file size limitation of 4GB. exFAT is not supported at this time for RAID disks.
Once you have chosen your filesystem select Agree if you agree with removing all the data from the disks.
Click Save.


You should now have your RAID1 disk with the amount of space available in your disks overview. You can now use this disk for your NAS storage.
